Pastor Joshua Mayer
Joshua Mayer was born and raised in Bellevue, Nebraska. He first came to Minnesota in the fall of 2007 to attend Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. Bethany enriched his young adult years with studies in moral philosophy, sociology and religion.
Four years later, he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree—but not before meeting a young woman from Norseland, Minnesota, Jonnica Norell. Jonnica and Josh were engaged by December 2012, and married a year and a half later on June 21, 2014.
From a young age, Josh has had a passion for the ministry. And although he never dreamt he would be a pastor, throughout his college years the Lord was gently guiding him toward the fulltime ministry. He began his four-year journey in the fall of 2013 at Bethany Lutheran Theological Seminary in Mankato—a place that instilled a deep respect and love for God’s Holy Word. To this day, Josh still feels indebted to the level of personal care and instruction he received at Bethany Seminary.
In May 2015, Josh and Jonni moved to the north metro as he fulfilled his last year of seminary studies at Redeeming Grace Lutheran Church under the direction of Pastor David Russow. The following summer with the completion of his studies and upon graduating with his Master of Divinity, the Holy Spirit called Josh to remain at Redeeming Grace Lutheran Church as pastor.
Today, Josh and Jonni call Rogers their home. They consider themselves blessed to be part of such a wonderful congregation and are excited to see the bright future the Lord has in store for Redeeming Grace.
